By using the tools of EFT Tapping, Hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Life Coaching, Rachel takes relationships that are in crisis or even those that are already good and guides them to the next level.

Rachel Jakobi

Hey, I’m Rachel. I’m a wife and mother of 3 kids, ages 7, 9 and 11. I’ve been working as a Relationship Coach since 2010, based in the rural area of Darwin, NT, Australia.

By the time I had my first kid I already had a diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy and a Diploma of Life Coaching under my belt. I thought I’d go into parental coaching because, well, that’s where I was at. Then a couple of things happened. I realised EVERYONE was going into teaching parents how to be good parents AND I realised one of the most important factors in raising healthy, well balanced kids is a healthy relationship between their parents. And that’s how I fell into Relationship Coaching.

When I began taking on couples I realised that the life coaching and hypnotherapy could only get me so far. Coaching is great for figuring out exactly where you want to go in life and identify what’s holding you back. Hypnotherapy is excellent for creating more positive mindsets for moving forward. But I didn’t have a tool to help what seemed to be the biggest problem for couples - the emotional baggage. No amount of goal setting or positive mindset is going to overcome the instinctive reactions created by past trauma or negative experiences. So I studied EFT Tapping and it’s changed everything!

Tapping uses the same pressure points as used in Acupuncture, (only without the needles) to reduce the stress responses in the body. Because we link certain memories to stress via neural pathways, the more we use these pathways, the stronger they become and the more stress we experience. And stress can have a negative impact on our behaviour. The points used in EFT activate the safety response in the body, communicating to your body that it can switch off the stress response and become calm, which can lead to the release of the emotional baggage that is negatively affecting your behaviour.

In 2023 our family moved onto a 20 acre farm on the outskirts of Darwin and we decided to homeschool our kids so am presently only working online. The advantage of this is that sessions can be recorded and re-watched and discussed by the couple later on.

When I first came to see Rachel I was looking to shift about 10kg. I thought I was just looking for some motivation but the sessions helped me to make sense of the thoughts and emotions I was having that were affecting my eating and exercise habits. Rachel helped me to learn how to let go and allowed me to understand some of the reasons why I was thinking and feeling the things that I was.

On a scale of 1-10, I would rate our sessions at a 10. I enjoyed the talking that we shared and found Rachel to be very understanding and helpful at getting me to focus on how I could move forward with all areas of my life, not just my weight. I got so much more than I ever expected from our sessions together.

I think that Rachel is a great practitioner, very professional and insightful. It was a great experience.

At first I was quite skeptical about opening up to someone I had never met before and what’s more, over the telephone. However after the first session with Rachel, it was clear that she was so personable and easy to talk to. I was able to trust her and she was open and honest with me, even relating her own life situations to mine. I found this incredibly helpful and genuine.

Rachel has assisted me with stress management and highlighted the importance of loving and nurturing myself. She also guided me through a discovery of my values and interests, from which I gained a greater understanding of who I am as a person and what’s important to me. This understanding has been critical in recognising why I feel stressed/ anxious about certain situations and I am now able to recognise these feelings and their causes.
