Hi, I’m Rachel Jakobi, a Relationship Coach based in Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia. I work with individuals and couples who want more than just “getting by” in their relationships — they want deeper connection, better communication, and a calmer, more fulfilling way of relating.

I believe the most contented lives are lived by people who understand how to regulate their nervous systems. When we feel calm and safe in our bodies, we naturally have greater access to logic, creativity, compassion, and problem-solving. But when we feel overwhelmed, triggered, or emotionally flooded, even the most loving relationships can become tense, confusing, and disconnected.

Many couples come to me believing they have a communication problem. What I often find is that they’re actually experiencing a nervous system problem. When the body perceives threat — whether that threat is real or emotional — it moves into survival mode. Listening becomes difficult. Defensiveness rises. People shut down, lash out, or retreat. And suddenly, the same argument happens again and again.

Relationships are powerful mirrors. They don’t create our trauma, but they often reveal it. They show us where we feel unsafe, unseen, abandoned, criticised, or not enough. And while this can be painful, it is also an incredible opportunity. When we learn to understand our triggers, regulate our responses, and heal what’s underneath them, we don’t just become better partners — we become healthier, happier people.

My work is grounded in a practical and holistic approach, combining evidence-based tools with deep emotional insight. I draw on Life Coaching to help clients create clarity, set goals, shift unhelpful patterns, and take meaningful action. I use EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) to support nervous system regulation and help release emotional stress held in the body. I also incorporate Hypnotherapy to access the subconscious mind, where many of our beliefs, fears, and automatic relationship patterns are formed.

These tools allow my clients to create real change — not just understanding what’s wrong, but actually feeling different in the moments that matter most.

I have a particular passion for supporting people navigating ADHD in relationships, where emotional intensity, overwhelm, miscommunication, and burnout can create painful cycles for both partners. With the right understanding and strategies, these relationships can shift from exhausting to deeply connected and supportive.

Whether you are coming to me as an individual wanting to grow, or as a couple wanting to reconnect, my aim is to help you build a relationship that feels safe, calm, and emotionally secure — one where both people feel heard, valued, and understood.

You don’t need to wait until your relationship is falling apart to seek support. Relationship growth is not a sign of failure — it’s a sign of strength.

If you’re ready to break old patterns, regulate your nervous system, and create a healthier way of relating, I would love to support you.

When I first came to see Rachel I was looking to shift about 10kg. I thought I was just looking for some motivation but the sessions helped me to make sense of the thoughts and emotions I was having that were affecting my eating and exercise habits. Rachel helped me to learn how to let go and allowed me to understand some of the reasons why I was thinking and feeling the things that I was.

On a scale of 1-10, I would rate our sessions at a 10. I enjoyed the talking that we shared and found Rachel to be very understanding and helpful at getting me to focus on how I could move forward with all areas of my life, not just my weight. I got so much more than I ever expected from our sessions together.

I think that Rachel is a great practitioner, very professional and insightful. It was a great experience.

At first I was quite skeptical about opening up to someone I had never met before and what’s more, over the telephone. However after the first session with Rachel, it was clear that she was so personable and easy to talk to. I was able to trust her and she was open and honest with me, even relating her own life situations to mine. I found this incredibly helpful and genuine.

Rachel has assisted me with stress management and highlighted the importance of loving and nurturing myself. She also guided me through a discovery of my values and interests, from which I gained a greater understanding of who I am as a person and what’s important to me. This understanding has been critical in recognising why I feel stressed/ anxious about certain situations and I am now able to recognise these feelings and their causes.
